    This beautiful piece is painted using acrylic on canvas created by indigenous artist Ivy Napangardi Poulson.Born in 1959,  Ivy lives in Yuendumu and has been exhibiting paintings of her Yuparli (Bush Banana) and Pikilyi (Vaughan Springs) Dreamings with Warlukurlangu Artists since 1990, when she was included in the Womens Exhibition' at The Women's Gallery in Melbourne.

    Story: Pikilyi is a large and important waterhole and natural spring near Mount Doreen station. Pikilyi Jukurrpa (Vaughan Springs Dreaming) tells of the home of two rainbow serpents, ancestral heroes who lived together as man and wife.

    The woman 'rainbow serpent' was of the Napanangka skin group, the man was a Japangardi. This was a taboo relationship contrary to Warlpiri religious law...
