Djalu
Gurruwiwi is a senior leader of the Galpu clan in Australia's
remote NE Arnhem Land. He is a yidaki (didgeridoo) crafter,
player and teacher. This album features traditional
rhythm patterns for yidaki on 95 tracks. Each rhythm
is introduced by Djalu in his native Yolngu language,
interpreted in english by his sister, Dhangal. After
hearing about the meaning of each rhythm, Djalu demonstrates
the mouth sounds without the yidaki, then plays the
rhythm with yidaki. Expertly recorded with beautiful
