Burrngupurrngu Wunungmurran (Dhalwangu aboriginal)

Burrngupurrngu
is one of the foremost yidaki
makers and a senior lawman for
the Dhalwangu clan. Whilst
busy with ceremonial responsibilities
for months at a time, Burrngupurrngu
demands of himself a consistent
standard. Burrngupurrngu is well respected
amongst Yolngu communities for
his knowledge of yidaki making
and playing. Even as a young
man he was sought after to play
in ceremony. The
artwork was painted by his wife, Djul'djul' Gurruwiwi, depicting Wititj the Olive Python along with Dhalwangu clan
designs. The execution
of the fine crosshatch lines
is remarkable, and the entire yidaki is painted with hand made ochres (earth pigments). This is an "old
school" instrument in absolutely excellent
condition, and much more collectable
than your standard didgeridoo. Crafted from termite-hollowed eucalyptus. Well seasoned timber with no inorganic compounds or varnishes ever applied to it. No repairs or patches. Fitted with
an adjustable, organic beeswax mouthpiece sanitized with Didgeri-Clean (tea tree and lavender oil). The mouthpiece
can easily be adjusted to fit you
perfectly. Instructions included. |
Soundwise: Concert quality sound and playability with sweet, warm,
vibrant acoustics. Remarkable range
of sonic characteristics and
so easy to play! This traditional instrument
sounds even better than it
looks, delivering very clear
vocal response which is great
for dingo howls and kookaburra
calls. Good bass frequencies
radiate from the core, balanced
with spluttery trills. Best
of all the conical bore gives
you strong compression for
easy horn toots and hard
tongue riddims. Truly
a SENSATIONAL yidaki with
handsome aboriginal artwork,
and you'd be hard pressed
to find another one like it
currently available on this side of the Pacific.
Perfect backpressure for its
size and pitch make the circular
breathing technique easeful. Many of you know how quickly an instrument like this one can sell, so please don't hesitate to contact
us if you have any questions
or would like a demo over
the phone. 100% Satisfaction
Guaranteed. |
