"Red Sky Country"
Performance Quality Yidaki from Australia

Marikuku #2 Wirrpanda (Dhudi-Djapu aboriginal)

The red dot on the Australian map at left shows the region where this didgeridoo came from. Marikuku #2 is the son of Dhudi-Djapu artist and lawman Dhukal Wirrpanda, and senior Manggalili artist Galuma Maymuru, daughter of Narritjin Maymuru, often credited as a founder of Yolngu-owned and operated art sales. The painted band designs are very significant to his clan. This is an "old
school" instrument in excellent
condition, much more collectable
than your average didgeridoo,
and we honor that by using the
proper Yolngu word for didgeridoo,
"yidaki", here. Painted with natural ochres (earth pigments). The bell or distal end is
clear and open which increases volume, harmonics, and clarity of
tone. Features a perfect natural mouthpiece that's been sanitized
with Didgeri-Clean (tea tree and lavender oil). No beeswax needed. |

Soundwise: Performance quality sound and playability you'll enjoy for a lifetime. A perfect yidaki for a beginner
to intermediate level player. The
tapered bore offers up vocals that
are strong and clear, and the balance
leans toward the midrange frequencies
making animal calls and harmonics
flow with good projection. It's
nice and loud but not bombastic
so you won't scare the dog, and
it responds well to any tempo so
play it fast or slow depending upon
your mood or what moves you. The
first trumpet toot is warm to the
drone and the overblown note is
very stable making it easy to incorporate
into rhythms. Perfect backpressure
for its size and pitch (making the circular breathing technique
easier). Please don't hesitate
to contact us if you have any questions
or would like a demo over the phone. 100%
Satisfaction Guaranteed. |
