| A
stopover in Byron Bay and then off
to Bellingen |
Tynon
and Barry picked out some
awesome didjs to ship home
to L.A.Outback, including
the forked double didj they're
holding in the photo to your
right (which sold just 3 days
after placement on our website).

Tynon
is a very cool guy who lives
in a very hip small town,
and he knows the juice on
didjeridus. Barry can't wait
to go back and spend more
time there.

| Sunny
days in beautiful Cairns and visiting
with David Hudson |
 |
Cairns
sunset from the pier. The pier
is where you catch your diving
trip to the Great Barrier Reef,
or shop at the large Pier Marketplace
mall. David Hudson's store,
Jabiru, is located here. |
Barry
spent time with David on
and off for three days in
Cairns. He's a busy guy,
but he and his wife, Cindy,
made him feel welcome in
their home.

David
is both a didj muso and
a movie star, having made
quite a few films. Barry
particularly enjoyed his
stories about working on The Island of Dr. Moreau (he played the Bison man).
David does a hilarious and
uncanny impersonation of
Marlon Brando! Seriously.

Also,
David went out of his way
to help Barry pack and ship
some wonderful didjs he
had found in Cairns and
Kuranda. Thanks again, David!

It
was also a pleasure to meet
with Maiyla Munungurr and his
family. He's an awesome traditional
painter. Barry bought the didj
Maiyla is playing, which is
absolute perfection in every
way. |

| Didgeridoos or Didgeridont's |
|
This didj factory stockroom
is just a small glimpse of
the commerciality of the didgeridoo.
While some people would view
this photo and think "Wow,
look at all those didgeridoos!",
it saddens me to inform you
that these sticks, and many
thousands like them, are not
cut, crafted and painted to
actually be played. They are
made for the tourist market,
sold cheaply, and often there
has been no Aboriginal involvement
in their production. Buyer
beware.

Now,
I can't help if it sounds
a bit self-serving to say
this, but... Worthy didj sellers
should know the artists, earn
your trust, answer your questions
thoroughly, and above all,
be didj players themselves!
There, I'll get off my soap
box now.
