    sleep apnea didgeridoo therapy

Didgeridoo Therapy for Sleep Apnea has been clinically proven to offer the only CURATIVE THERAPY for Obstructive Sleep Apnea (full details below). Playing the didgeridoo is fun, calming, and promotes healthier breathing. Doctors, sleep studies and patients report less daytime sleepiness and better quality of sleep in as little as 2 weeks. Some report a complete cessation of symptoms after 3 to 4 months. We're here to provide external links to all of the research, to answer questions, and to provide you with the proper instrument and tutorials.

The U.S. National Institutes of Health says, "One of the challenges in the treatment of sleep disorders is poor compliance. Thus new treatments not only need to be effective but also be ones that people are motivated enough to use. Didgeridoo playing seems to meet these requirements. Participants were highly motivated during the trial and practiced, on average, almost six days a week, which was even more than the protocol asked for.

Regular playing of a didgeridoo reduces sleep apnea and snoring in people with moderate obstructive sleep apnea syndrome and also improves the sleep quality of partners. Severity of disease, expressed by the apnea-hypopnoea index, is also substantially reduced after four months of didgeridoo playing."
Sleep doctor Rubin Naiman, PhD., Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at Arizona State University says, "Learning to play the didgeridoo is emerging as a surprisingly effective and practical strategy for managing snoring and sleep apnea symptoms. I encourage all my patients to discuss this option with their doctors."
Even famous people are in the know. Actress Tippi Hedren has bought two didgeridoos from us and was sweet to pose for the photo at left -- thank you, Tippi! We've also had Ellen DeGeneres, Robin Williams, Josh Brolin, Diane Keaton, David Sedaris, Tracy Chapman, Micky Hart (Greatful Dead), and Andy Summers (The Police) as customers.

Doctors recommend practicing at least 1 hour per week in 15 minuet increments.

We offer FREE SHIPPING in the U.S. and a 30 Day Money Back Guarantee.

Both videos below reference "circular breathing", a technique used in didgeridoo playing.
While most players learn this advanced technique over time, it was eliminated from the protocol in both university studies.
In short, you DO NOT have to learn the circular breathing technique to benefit from Didgeridoo Therapy. Yay!

Links to the Science Behind the Therapy

reuters news feedRegular didgeridoo playing reduces snoring and daytime sleepiness, finds a study published by British Medical Journal. Snoring and obstructive sleep apnea syndrome are common sleep disorders caused by the collapse of the upper airways. Reports of didgeridoo players experiencing reduced daytime sleepiness and snoring after practicing, led experts in Switzerland to test the theory that training of the upper airways by didgeridoo playing can improve these disorders. They identified 25 patients with moderate obstructive sleep apnea syndrome and who complained about snoring. Patients were randomly allocated to an intervention group (didgeridoo lessons and daily practice at home for four months) or a control group (remained on a waiting list for lessons). Compared with the control group, daytime sleepiness and apnea scores improved significantly in the didgeridoo group. Partners of patients in the didgeridoo group also reported much less sleep disturbance.

The authors conclude that regular training of the upper airways by didgeridoo playing reduces daytime sleepiness and snoring in people with moderate obstructive sleep apnea syndrome and also improves the sleep quality of partners.

Our specialty for 18 years is the didgeridoo, and we are responding to the proof of principal results published in the British Medical Journal and elsewhere. 1. Novice Player star rating

Posted by Glen Young on 15th Nov 2016

Thoughtfully packaged to prevent damage and shipped promptly, this is a beautiful instrument that a person will want to display. As a novice player I could only make the sounds of an animal dying in the outback at first, but after just a few days practice with techniques learned on YouTube videos I could make a nice drone and am beginning to learn other sounds. Very satisfying to play! Now to master that circular breathing ...

    2. didge seems fine, cd is worthless star rating

Posted by davidthearcher on 20th Oct 2016

I received the didgeridoo approximately a week after I ordered it. The instrument seems fine, I've never played one before. The cd that came with it isn't the one in the picture and is pretty worthless. An instructional DVD with a focus on apnea sufferers would be far more appropriate. Include some exercises and animation of the airway during instrument play. My $.02.

    3. Unable to make the drone star rating

Posted by Melvin on 7th Jul 2015

Listening to the cd and the idea that ones lips should flap is beyond what I can do . Unless I find someone to help I will be sending it back.

    4. Didge and CD arrived super fast star rating

Posted by James Wolfgram on 7th Mar 2015

While this is my first didgeridoo, I'm very happy with it and can make some nice drones. Almost able to circular breath...just a little more practice. Even if it doesn't help my apnea (and I'm sure it will) I'm still having loads of fun.

    5. I'am happy with my Didgeridoo star rating

    6. For my husband's apnea star rating

Posted by Donya Sanders on 16th Feb 2015

I puchased the didge for my husband whom I believe has sleep apnea. I wanted him to strengthen his throat muscles by playing the didge. Even if he does not have sleep apnea, the sound of the didge is music to my ears and I love it. He is very intested in learning how to play it. Since he is retired--he has the time and the patience.

    7. Amazing customer experience star rating

Posted by Andy Taylor on 8th Jan 2015

I am very happy with everything! The atmosphere, price, shipping, packaging, condition, Didge as advertised, accessories, inter-personal experiences. It all put images of a distant land in my mind, although I do understand that you are a Californian company. I have absolutely no rough spots in my experience with you. In this day and age, that's rare! You really delivered and I can imagine a Didgeridoo in every household. Congratulations on a very well-developed company! Don't change this. If you get bigger, please just keep the ambiance. Thanks again.
