These have a VERY woody sound. No super high "plink" when you smack them together--just a nice, solid wood sound. I love it. May not be perfect for every situation, but you can change the sound a bit by hitting various combinations of the broad and narrow sides against each other to find what works best. These are also a lot bigger in person than the photos make them seem, and a 12-inch clapstick feels larger than it might sound. But still, these are great.
