"Omega Drone"
Vintage, Concert Quality Didgeridoo
Crafted by Frank ThillWatch a VIDEO demo of this didgeridoo below!
 In
the didgeridoo community at large only a few names have become
synonymous with expertly crafted yidaki, and one of them (Frank) is not
aboriginal. Frank Thill worked with Djalu Gurruwiwi
and his family for quite a while in Australia's NE Arnhem Land,
learning traditional crafting techniques from the master himself. Upon
moving to Darwin around 2001, Frank's reputation for making exceedingly
fine yidaki had begun to swell around the world. With Djalu's blessing,
Frank crafted some of the most highly sought-after instruments to be
found. Then, in a matter of just a few years (following the birth of his
daughter) Frank shifted gears, moved his family to South Australia, and
pursued an entirely new career. So the number of instruments Frank made
are quite limited as compared to those by crafters still working today.
And that makes a fine yidaki by Frank Thill even more rare and
desirable among players and collectors.
This yidaki was acquired from the David Betz collection. David ran the Songlines
aboriginal fine art gallery in San Francisco for many years. This was
one of David's personal instruments and was not for sale... until now.
What a showpiece!!! This GORGEOUS, RESONANT, CONCERT QUALITY yidaki was crafted from well seasoned stringybark eucalyptus. It sports a BIG 6.25" bell on the bottom end, and wait until you hear this DEADLY SOUNDING SHOWPIECE! The conical bore is very clear (you could roll a silver dollar down the inside) which increases
volume, harmonics, and clarity of tone. A hand rubbed French polish protects the wood and artwork from the elements. This satin finish is incredibly smooth to the touch. Fitted with an organic beeswax mouthpiece that's been sanitized with Didgeri-Clean (tea tree and lavender oil). The mouthpiece can easily be adjusted to fit you perfectly. Instructions included, no worries.
 Soundwise: Concert Quality
This spectacular didgeridoo delivers a VERY LOUD and BRILLIANT voice in D# that's nearly effortless to manipulate. The conical bore and medium-thin walls makes this didgeridoo SUPER RESONANT with perfectly balanced acoustics, PHAT BASS frequencies and highly articulate vocals. Everyone and everything in the room vibrates when you play this didge! Dense, shape-shifting harmonic overtones and hot but sweet midrange sonics. Four easy horn tones, all warm against the drone. Optimal strong-medium backpressure for its size and pitch make for easier circular breathing. And yes, you get the actual didgeridoo pictured here and being played in the video (some people ask).
