"Garma Dhäwu"
Concert Quality Yidaki
Crafted by Burrngupurrngu Wunungmurra Watch a VIDEO demo of this didgeridoo below!

This is an EXQUISITE
yidaki that belongs in the hands of a serious player/collector.
Burrngupurrngu a.k.a. Bruce (pictured at right), is one of the foremost yidaki makers and a
senior lawman for the Dhalwangu clan. Whilst busy with ceremonial
responsibilities for months at a time, Burrngupurrngu demands of himself
a consistent standard. He is well respected amongst Yolngu
communities for his knowledge of yidaki making and playing. Even as a
young man he was sought after to play in ceremony.
Painted in hand made natural ochres (earth pigments) by his wife, Djul'djul', the artwork consists of band designs representing garma (brackish water) that are very significant to the Dhalwangu clan. See the close-up photo at left and click on the thumbnails above for a better look.
This is an "old school" instrument in excellent
condition, much more collectable than your average didgeridoo, and we
honor that by using the proper Yolngu word for didgeridoo, "yidaki",
here. The interior bore is very clear and open which
increases volume, harmonics, and clarity of tone. Features a natural mouthpiece sanitized with Didgeri-Clean (tea tree and lavender oil). No beeswax needed. Soundwise: Concert Quality
This is a solid yidaki with a fair bit of bluntness complimented with a bright, aggressive grittiness at the top end of its acoustic. This one responds well to strong technique with a lot of pop, edge, and prominent passive vocal response. The minor third toot interval and very complex harmonic response add a dark brooding tonality to an otherwise bright sounding instrument. Gravel-voiced
distortion effects. Blunt diaphragmatic response with perfectly balanced tonality. Optimal strong backpressure makes the circular breathing technique very easeful. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions. Watch
