Kenny Wark Yungamulwoi painted this LOUD, CONCERT QUALITY didgeridoo that has a 3.25" bell on the bottom end. The artwork features a Mimi Spirit and water bird motif. Kenny (pictured at right) was born around 1947 near the mouth of the Roper River in East Arnhem Land, where the river meets the Gulf of Ken WarkCarpentaria. This area is known as Dhuruputbi and the language is Balummumu/Djapu and his tribe is the Munungurr. Ken received no formal education and lived in isolation in this area all of his young life until the family moved to the nearest major town of Katherine. This lack of contact with "white civilization" in his formative years shows through in his paintings. He depicts in his paintings subjects which are often associated with hunting and gathering activities such as bush foods, birds, animals and reptiles. He paints in the so called X-Ray style with fine cross hatching (raark) associated with Arnhem Land Bark Paintings.

Ken says his father and grandfather (Doonji) have had the biggest influence on his work. From a young age Ken watched these two people paint and learnt from them the Dreamtime tales that their paintings conveyed. In later years Ken was influenced by David Blanasi (deceased) and George Jungawanga, (Left Hand George) in his work. Through his art, Ken hopes to heighten the awareness of Aboriginal Art in the community at large. He also hopes his success as a painter will influence his descendants to emulate him.

This handsome vintage didgeridoo, circa 2002, was acquired from a fellow didgeridoo importer and has never been privately owned or played regularly. The timber is well age-seasoned with no signs of repair ever needed. It shows no wear and looks like it did the day it was originally finished! This ripper didgeridoo was crafted from termite hollowed eucalyptus. The interior bore is very clear and open which increases volume, harmonics, and clarity of tone. A semi gloss finish protects the wood and artwork from the elements. Fitted with an organic beeswax mouthpiece sanitized with Didgeri-Clean (tea tree and lavender oil). The mouthpiece can easily be adjusted to fit you perfectly. Instructions included, no worries.

Soundwise: Concert Quality

Absolutely awesome sound! Superb clarity with round, phat bass tones and a rock steady drone that commands attention. Its strongest and most unique feature is that the harmonic overtone is nearly as loud as the drone! This sensational, well crafted instrument offers a deep, billowing tonal swelter which beckons to be explored and mastered. Simply put, a didgeridoo doesn't get much better or more enjoyable to play than this. It has deeply haunting, powerful and cavernous tone colors whilst being very easy to play. The medium-large bore carries sweetly hot acoustics and reverberant bass frequencies. Three quick horn toots, all warm against the drone. Optimal strong-medium backpressure which makes the circular breathing technique easeful. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or would like a demo over the phone. This one's a beauty and it may not last long around here so call straight away if you see your name on it. Watch Barry demo this instrument for you in the video below. 100% satisfaction guaranteed.
