This old, VERY RARE and HIGHLY COLLECTABLE instrument by Robert Miburra, circa 1978, was acquired from a private collection. The previous owner runs an art gallery in Sydney and has been collecting interesting and important didgeridoos since 1980. This mago was sourced directly from Robert Miburra in Arnhem Land in 1980 and it was a couple of years old at that time. It has been well cared for, showing a bit of wear but no sign of damage or instability of the timber. The asking price on this one is more than reasonable for an instrument of this ilk. This is the kind of old mago that you may find on offer elsewhere for twice the price.

Robert is from the Jibabal area in Australia's Northern Territory, part of the Yunartha language group. The artwork represents water lily and the paint used was hand made from natural earth pigments and gypsum clay. The water lilies are red ochre on one side and yellow ochre on the other. See the close-up photos at left for a better look.

This mago was crafted from termite hollowed yellow box eucalyptus. There is no finish on this old mago so it has a wonderful patina. Truly old school, and instruments like these are getting harder to find, only surfacing when a collector decides to let one find a new home.

Suitable for any player from the beginner to advanced level. The bore is very clear which increases volume, harmonics, and clarity of tone. Fitted with an organic beeswax mouthpiece sanitized with Didgeri-Clean (tea tree and lavender oil). The mouthpiece can easily be adjusted to fit you perfectly. Instructions included, no worries.

Soundwise: Concert Quality

Wonderful ease of play with warm, grittily textured acoustics. This beautiful old mago (didgeridoo from western Arnhem Land, Australia) offers up some spicy, eerie and expansive reverberations. A superb instrument with aggressive vocal distortion effects and a resonant drone that lends itself perfectly to traditional rhythms. High frequency insectile buzzes and whip-snapping response to tongued and diaphragmatic beats and effects. Three easy horn tones, each warm against the drone and always ready to toot. Optimal strong-medium backpressure which makes the circular breathing technique easeful. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or would like a demo over the phone. This is a handsome showcase mago and it may not last long around here. Call straight away if you see your name on it. Read our 100% Satisfaction Guarantee.

Includes Certificate of Authenticity, care guide and playing guide.
